I need a good interesting non-fiction book or series that a middle schooler would ENJOY! any suggestions?

My daughter who is 12 has read the Harry Potter Series, Narnia series, olympian series, the hobbit, golden compas series. My teacher would like to see her read some drama or non-fiction so she doesn't focus too much on Sci-Fi and fantasy. I agree she needs to diversify, but I don't know of any really good series in these non-fanatasy genres that I can get her really involved in like the others. I read Leather Stocking Tales (includes last of the mohicans), but she is not ready for that level of a book yet.
